The Owensboro Museum of Fine Art presents traveling exhibitions from major museums, galleries and private collections and rotating exhibitions from the permanent collection. The facility includes two structures listed on the National Register of Historic Sites: the 1909 Carnegie Library and the John Hampden Smith House, a pre-Civil War era mansion which serves as a decorative arts wing. The permanent collection features American, European and Asian fine and decorative arts dating from the 15th century to the present; a stained glass gallery of late 19th and early 20th century German stained glass windows; a collection of contemporary studio art glass; a major collection of American Folk Art with emphasis on the works of 20th century Appalachian artists and craftsmen; and a collection of works by artists and craftsmen with Kentucky connections from the early 1800′s to the present.

The Museum Art Market offers works for sale by regional artists and craftsmen.

An interactive art studio and special galleries offer hands-on educational activities for children.

The Owensboro Museum of Fine Art has three wings containing 14 galleries. Additional amenities include guided museum tours, special presentations of various works of art, event photography, thematic music, and entertainment and catering assistance. For more information, contact Jason Hayden.

This large museum encompasses many adventures, including Encounter, a unique hands-on, minds-on gallery, a true "edu-tainment" experience. You will also have the opportunity to learn about government in the Wendell H. Ford Government Education Center or Owensboro’s NASCAR connection with a cruise through the motorsports gallery, The Speedzeum.

The Coal Mine Gallery here visitors learn about the history and safety of coal mining in Western Kentucky, then get fitted for your "hard hat", then begin the journey down the coal mine elevator!

Admission is $3 adults/children, $10 family, and special group rates are available.

Many of the museum’s galleries are available for meeting and banquet space, including the Mammoth Lobby, the Wendell Ford Center, the D.A.R. Room, the Derby Room, the River Room and the PlayZeum.

The Edge Ice Center

The Edge Ice Center is Owensboro’s municipal ice arena. Open year-round, The Edge offers skating, skate rental, a full concession and pro shop, and is also home to the Owensboro Youth Hockey Association and the Owensboro Figure Skating Club. The Edge has over 42,000 square feet, with an ice surface of 17,000 square feet.
Open Monday 5-7 pm, Thursday 6-8 pm, Friday 7-10 pm, Saturday 1-4 pm and 7-10 pm, and Sunday 1-4 pm.

The Edge Ice Center has three meeting rooms available. Additional amenities include flat screenTV’s in each room and wireless internet. For more information, contact Jennifer Hodges.
