Ready to mandolin your way into the afternoon? 

Head to the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame & Museum on September 9 from noon to 1:00 PM. for Sounds of Bluegrass featuring Danny Roberts. A Kentucky native and longtime bluegrass musician, Roberts has spent more than four decades making his mark on the genre as a mandolin player, vocalist, songwriter, and member of The Grascals. With multiple IBMA Awards, GRAMMY nominations, and seven SPBGMA Mandolin Performer of the Year Awards to his name, Roberts brings decades of experience and a deep love for bluegrass to the stage. Guests can enjoy an afternoon of impressive mandolin playing and the traditional sounds of bluegrass. His performance is included with regular museum admission, with advance tickets available for $10 and general admission seating. Air Show

Looking to take flight this weekend?

The fun begins Friday, September 11, with Friday Night Flight at the Owensboro-Daviess County Regional Airport, featuring aircraft, food, and a spectacular fireworks finale. Saturday morning, visitors can stroll, jog, or run across the Glover H. Cary Bridge during the Annual Bridge Walk from 7:30 AM to noon before the bridge reopens to traffic. Aviation fans can also get behind the wheel of exotic supercars on the runway or take to the skies in a historic military helicopter through the available driving and flight experiences. For those watching from the riverfront, bring your chairs, blankets, and snacks and enjoy free views of the aerial action, with reserved seating also available for those looking for a premium experience. Food trucks and downtown restaurants will also be serving up plenty of options throughout the weekend.

Steel Magnolias

A little Southern sass, a lot of friendship, and a story you won’t forget! 

Theatre Workshop of Owensboro presents Robert Harling’s beloved comedy-drama Steel Magnolias, directed by Elliott Talkington and sponsored by American Electric Power. Follow six Southern women as they navigate friendship, family, laughter, and life’s toughest moments inside their local beauty salon. With its unforgettable characters and heartfelt story, this modern classic has become a favorite among audiences of all ages. Performances take place September 11–13 and September 18–20, with evening shows at 7:30 PM and Sunday performances at 5:00 PM on September 13 and 2:00 PM on September 20.
