On September 11-13, Owensboro is the place to be as two incredible events come together for an unforgettable celebration of determination, community, and excitement.
Cheer on inspiring athletes as they compete in the Special Olympics Kentucky State Softball Competition, where hard work, courage, and sportsmanship take center stage. Every athlete has a story, and every competition is a reminder that anything is possible.
Then, look to the skies as the 2026 Owensboro Air Show returns to the riverfront with three days of aviation thrills! This year’s show features the world-famous U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds alongside an incredible lineup of military aircraft, aerobatic performers, and skydivers. Friday evening features an up-close static aircraft display at the Owensboro-Daviess County Regional Airport, where families can explore impressive aircraft, and kids will have the chance to meet members of the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds and collect autographs for $5 per person. The excitement continues with spectacular aerial performances over the Ohio River on Saturday and Sunday.
