Owensboro Scoop: Broadway Is Calling!

No trip to New York? No problem! The bright lights of Broadway are making their way to downtown Owensboro as the Broadway Series takes center stage at the RiverPark Center.

Whether you’re a lifelong theater lover or simply looking for an unforgettable night out, this season brings incredible productions, stunning performances, and all the magic of Broadway, without ever leaving Kentucky. From laugh-out-loud moments and unforgettable music to dazzling choreography and powerful storytelling, every show offers something to love. The 2026-27 lineup includes favorites like:

Waitress (September 18, 2026 – 7:00 PM)
Meet Jenna, a waitress and expert pie-maker who dreams of a way out of her small town and rocky marriage. Pouring her heart into her pies, she crafts desserts that mirror her topsy-turvy life, such as “The Key (Lime) to Happiness Pie” and “Betrayed By My Eggs Pie.” When a baking contest in a nearby county –  and a satisfying encounter with someone new – shows Jenna a chance at a fresh start, she must find the courage to seize it. Change is on the menu, as long as Jenna can write her own perfectly personal recipe for happiness. To get tickets, CLICK HERE

The Music Man (October 4, 2026 – 5:00 PM)
There’s trouble in River City when a fast-talking salesman gets his heart stolen by the town librarian. Meredith Willson’s six-time Tony Award-winning musical comedy THE MUSIC MAN follows fast-talking traveling salesman Harold Hill as he cons the people of River City, Iowa, into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys’ band that he vows to organize – this, despite the fact that he doesn’t know a trombone from a treble clef. His plans to skip town with the cash are foiled when he falls for Marian, the librarian, who transforms him into a respectable citizen by curtain’s fall.  Featuring songs such as “Seventy-Six Trombones,” “Ya Got Trouble,” “‘Till There Was You,” “Pick-a-Little” and “Gary, Indiana,” THE MUSIC MAN is a family-friendly story to be shared with every generation. The Wiz (October 16, 2026 – 7:00 PM)
The Tony® Award-winning Best Musical that took the world by storm is back. This groundbreaking twist on The Wizard of Oz changed the face of Broadway—from its iconic score packed with soul, gospel, rock, and 70s funk to its stirring tale of Dorothy’s journey to find her place in a contemporary world.  The production also includes ‘Everybody Rejoice’ music and lyrics by Luther Vandross, as well as the ‘Emerald City Ballet’ with music by Timothy Graphenreed. Everybody rejoice, this dynamite infusion of ballet, jazz, and modern pop brings a whole new groove to easing down the road! To get tickets, CLICK HERE

STOMP (November 12-13, 2026 – 7:00 PM)
Now celebrating its 30th anniversary, STOMP is a unique combination of percussion, movement, and visual comedy. STOMP has created its own inimitable, contemporary form of rhythmic expression: both household and industrial objects find new life as musical instruments in the hands of an idiosyncratic band of body percussionists.  It is a journey through sound, a celebration of the everyday and a comic interplay of characters wordlessly communicating through dance and drum.
