What happens when a community works together to go after new business?

More than 200 of the top NAIA college tennis players in the Southeast are coming to Owensboro Sept. 23–26 for the ITA Southeast Regional Tennis Championships.

It’s the first time Owensboro has hosted the event, with regional winners advancing to the national ITA Cup.

But landing an event like this doesn’t happen because of one organization.

Visit Owensboro worked alongside Brescia University, Owensboro Parks & Recreation and the Owensboro-Daviess County Tennis Association to bring the championship to our community.

That collaboration is the bigger win.

“Some of our best tourism wins happen when we get the right people around the table, roll up our sleeves and go after the business together,” said Mark Calitri, President & CEO of Visit Owensboro. “That’s how we continue bringing new visitors and new opportunities to Owensboro.”

The championship adds another major event to Owensboro’s growing sports tourism calendar and puts our community in front of collegiate athletes, coaches and families from across the Southeast.
