The best compliment a community can receive is when people want to come back. That’s exactly what’s happening in Owensboro.
The American Cornhole Organization recently announced it wants to bring even more events to Owensboro after another successful World Championships at the Owensboro Convention Center. It also plans to return this January with another major tournament.
Every event brings new visitors to our community. They stay in our hotels, eat in our restaurants, shop in our local businesses, and experience everything that makes Owensboro special. That’s real economic impact, and it’s why sports tourism continues to be one of our strongest industries.

The momentum is growing. The Bluegrass Fieldhouse is expected to open this fall and is already about 65% booked for 2027. The Ben Hawes Pickleball Complex is also scheduled to open this fall, and Visit Owensboro is actively recruiting tournaments that will bring even more visitors to our community.
Success like this doesn’t happen by accident. It takes great facilities, dedicated volunteers, local businesses, and a community that understands every visitor matters.
Owensboro has earned a reputation for delivering first-class events. That’s why national organizations keep coming back, and it’s one more reason we’re excited about what lies ahead.
