Kentucky Film Office Opens Doors for Owensboro
Owensboro and Daviess County continue to build momentum, and now the film industry is noticing. When Meg Fister, Director of the Kentucky Film Office, spoke to business leaders at the Greater Owensboro Chamber of Commerce’s Rooster Booster breakfast, her message was clear: Kentucky is serious about attracting more film, television and commercial productions, and communities that prepare today will see the benefits tomorrow.
Kentucky offers one of the nation’s strongest film incentive programs, skilled crews and diverse locations that can stand in for almost any setting a director needs. Producers are paying attention, and Greater Owensboro Economic Development Corporation and Visit Owensboro have made film attraction a priority, working alongside the Kentucky Film Office to introduce producers and location scouts to Owensboro-Daviess County while showcasing the people, places and businesses that make our community a great place to do business.
When a production chooses Owensboro, the impact reaches across the community. Hotels welcome overnight guests. Restaurants serve more customers. Local companies provide trucks, equipment, building materials, transportation and other services that keep productions moving.
