.Floating rickhouses. Yes, that’s real.
O.H. Ingram River-Aged Whiskey ages bourbon on the Mississippi River, not in a traditional warehouse. Their barrels sit on the water and move with the current every day. That motion, along with the heat, humidity, and river air, becomes part of how the bourbon develops in the barrel.
It’s actually a throwback to how bourbon once moved in the 1800s, when barrels traveled the river to reach markets and picked up character along the way. Most of the industry left that behind in favor of more controlled environments. O.H. Ingram leaned into it and built their entire process around the river.
Now they’re bringing that experience to BBQ & Barrels in Owensboro.
When you walk into the tasting, this is one of those stops that stands out right away. You hear the story, you taste it, and it makes sense. It’s not complicated—it’s just different because of how it’s done.
That’s what makes this worth your time.
BBQ & Barrels is set up to be a full experience, not just a tasting. You’ve got the riverfront, live music, great food, and a strong lineup of distilleries. This one just gives you something you won’t see everywhere else, and it fits perfectly in a river city like Owensboro.
Tickets are limited, and this event fills up every year. Once it’s full, there’s no getting in.
