The Leadership Standard Behind Great Creative Work

Celebrating Mary Dolan’s creative work and the standard behind the Winning Leadership Playbook

by Mark Calitri, President & CEO of Visit Owensboro

Leadership shows up before results ever hit the scoreboard.

It shows up in standards.

In preparation.

In the people you choose to work with.

When it came time to bring Winning Leadership to life, the book cover was not a cosmetic decision. It was a leadership decision. How something is presented either supports the message or gets in the way of it.

That is why working with Mary Dolan of Creative Dolan Design Studio mattered.

True professionals bring more than talent. They bring discipline. They listen before they act. They understand their job is to support the work, not make it about themselves.

Mary approached the project that way. She took the time to understand the tone of the book and what it stood for. Her design work did not try to steal attention. It stayed true to the message and strengthened it.

 That matters.

In leadership, shortcuts always show up eventually. The same is true when things are done right. When leaders work with people who respect the standard, trust builds and credibility follows. The finished product reflects the care that went into it.

That principle applies whether you are leading a team, building a brand, or publishing a leadership book meant to stand alongside serious titles at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Winning Leadership is built on effort, accountability, and doing the work the right way when no one is watching. The creative work behind it needed to reflect those same values.

Great creative work does not need to shout.

It just needs to be done right.

The scoreboard always tells the truth.
