Where to catch the lighting of lights in town!

Christmas is right around the corner, and Owensboro is lighting up for the season! From the riverfront to festive neighborhoods, here are some of the best places to enjoy beautiful holiday light displays across the city.

 

Smothers Park ( 199 W Veterans Blvd, Owensboro, KY 42303 ) 

Missed the Smothers Park tree lighting? No worries! You can still catch the Dancing Lights show every 15 minutes, nightly from November 21 to December 31, between 5:00 PM and 9:00 PM. This is perfect for families or couples looking to have a walk-around experience downtown! Hit all of the local restaurants and stores without having a single worry about parking!  

Panther Creek Park ( 5160 Wayne Bridge Rd, Owensboro, KY 42301) 

700,000 lights in a 1.25-mile route through the beautiful Panther Creek Park! This drive-through experience is perfect for individuals who can’t brave the cold but love the beauty of Christmas lights! This drive-through display runs nightly from November 28 to January 1, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, and costs just $5 per vehicle. 

Stonegate Neighborhood ( 4567 Indian Creek Loop, Stonegate subdivision, Owensboro ) 

This neighborhood is filled with festive homes, but one shines brighter than the rest: the Lashbrook family display! It’s free to enjoy, though donations are always appreciated to help make the show even better each year. Though the date isn’t known for sure in previous years, the lights typically are ready for visitors the day after Thanksgiving. 

Legion Park ( 3047 Legion Park Dr, Owensboro, KY 42303 )

Looking to take a stroll through the park? Legion Park has their “Holiday in the Park” light show happening this year, starting November 26, running till January 1! Jack Frost is nipping at your nose while you walk through the beautiful light display all throughout Legion! Walk through for free and grab a couple of friends to join you!
