Historical Places in Owensboro

Owensboro is deeply rooted in rich culture and history. There are so many historically significant places you can find. Here are just a couple of buildings you can check out yourself:

 

Trinity Episcopal Church (1875) 

This Episcopal church is located at 720 Ford Avenue. This church features a beautiful Gothic Revival style known for its original stained-glass windows and woodwork. This is one of the oldest churches in Owensboro. 

Daviess County Courthouse (1965) 

Located on 212 St. Ann Street, the hub of civic history, the current courthouse was built in the 1960s, but courthouses dating back to the early 1800s have been on this site. 

Stinnett House (10184 HWY 54)( 1900s) 

This Queen Anne Revival style house was built around the 1900s by James L. Stinnett, one of the wealthiest men in Daviess County. The Stinnett House is one of the only Victorian-era houses in Whitesville. 

WeatherBerry Historic House (Mid-1800s) 

This historic house from the mid-1800s is part of the Western Kentucky Botanical Garden. It is special because it was a preserved antebellum home, which offers insight into the Civil War era in Owensboro. 

The Miller House 

From an early 20th-century mansion to a full-functioning restaurant. You can find delicious food in a 20th-century mansion. The interior and exterior retain much of their historic charm.
