Owensboro is about to host one of the biggest high school basketball tournaments in the state, y’all! And if you’re anything like the 99% of Kentuckians whose love for basketball runs in their veins, you’re gonna want to hear about this!
Held at the Owensboro Sportscenter January 22-26, the Kentucky A Classic Tournament is bringing the state’s top tier boys’ and girls’ small school basketball teams to Owensboro for four days of competitive play.
In fact, thirty-two teams will be facing off at the Kentucky All A Classic, so you’ll see players from every corner of the state lighting up the court.
This tournament will pack a huge economic punch as an expected 32,000 fans will fill the Owensboro Sportscenter to see their teams fight for that state championship title. These travelers will produce an estimated $2 million economic impact, which is amazing for–not only our sports tourism industry–but for the local restaurants and businesses that will benefit from the large influx of visitors.
The Owensboro Sportscenter is a 5,000-seat venue that’s home to Kentucky Wesleyan College’s and Owensboro Catholic’s basketball teams. There have been countless A-list musicians and performers who have also played at the historic Owensboro Sportscenter over the years.
This tournament will kick off on January 22, 2025 with the girls’ first-round games, while the boys’ teams will play first-round games on January 23. The quarter finals will be held on Friday, January 24, while semi-finals will be played on January 25. Both championship games will take place on Sunday, January 26.
