As we begin to head into the winter season, it’s time to start getting prepared for all the exciting events coming up over the next couple of months! And as temps begin to drop, more event will move indoors, meaning our convention center will be absolutely packed with exciting activity.
The Owensboro Convention Center is an award-winning venue with amazing waterfront views as it is located on the Ohio River in downtown Owensboro. Here are some upcoming trade shows, conventions, athletic tournaments and banquets to look forward to in November and December.
On November 22, Beverly’s Hearty Slice will host its 2024 Thanksgiving Event that is open to the general public. The nonprofit will be giving away hams and providing take-home meals for the holiday. This event will be held from 5:30-7 p.m.
On November 24, the Apex Tour of Champions cheerleading competition will bring tons of cheerleading teams to the convention center. This large-scale competition will take place all day and is open to the public to attend!
Beginning November 30, you can experience a magical winter wonderland at Energy On Ice! Go ice-skating on a synthetic ice rink behind the Owensboro Convention Center on the Kentucky Legend Pier. Admission is $5 and skates will also be available for use. Don’t forget to grab some hot chocolate and snacks while you’re there! Energy on Ice will be held from 4-9 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
The Bluegrass Futsal Cup will be held for three days, bringing dozens of futsal teams to Owensboro for some competitive play. Held December 6-8, spectators can come see one of the fastest-growing sports in the world take place for $7/day or $14 for a weekend pass.
Another amazing athletic competition will be held at the Owensboro Convention Center for three days as the Bluegrass Open–presented by Midwest Open Indoor Archery Tournament–brings hundreds of archers to our city. This archery tournament will start Friday, Dec. 13 with the S3DA Regional Event and Fun Team Shoot, while Saturday, Dec. 14 and Sunday, Dec. 15 will feature the 360 Competition Rounds.
You can score breakfast with the big man himself on December 21 as Breakfast With Santa takes over the Owensboro Convention Center for the day! Santa Claus is coming to town for a morning of all-you-can-eat pancakes with delicious toppings, sausage and juice and coffee. Kids can meet and take photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus and you can even write letters to them while you’re there! Tickets are $12 in advance or $14 at the door. The event will be held from 7:30-10 a.m.
On December 21 and 22, you can step into the world of prehistoric giants at Dinosaur Adventure–a unique exhibit showcasing life-sized, realistic dinosaurs that move and roar just like the real thing! Kids can dive into fun-filled activities, including Jurassic scooters, themed obstacle courses, dinosaur rides and more! This event will be held both days from 9 a.m.-7 p.m.
