If you want to see a Hallmark Christmas movie brought to real life, it’s time to schedule a trip to Owensboro, Kentucky!
Downtown Owensboro has become famous for its spectacular holiday displays that will be lighting up Smothers Park all through the Christmas season. And these aren’t your regular Christmas lights either!
Owensboro’s “Dancing Lights” have transformed Smothers Park into an interactive holiday lightshow. Every 15 minutes, the light displays will “dance” to a different classic Christmas song, giving you an extra dose of that holiday joy.
Part of the Dancing Lights includes the Smothers Park Christmas Tree–a tall, gorgeous centerpiece covered in ribbons, ornaments and, of course, tons of beautiful lights.
The Holiday Lights in downtown Owensboro can be enjoyed from November 22-December 31 from 5-9 p.m. And if you want a little something extra to get you in the holiday spirit, you can experience our city’s Holiday Stroll on December 7. This laid-back Christmas event includes a gnome scavenger hunt, a cocktail crawl, and the chance to get to shop from all the amazing local shops in downtown Owensboro!
Moreover, you can enjoy the lights AND some delicious hot cocoa if you schedule your trip for December 13 and 14, where downtown Owensboro’s Hot Chocolate Hop will feature local downtown businesses selling different kinds of specialty hot chocolate drinks. There will even be some special hot chocolates for adults with a little something extra kick added in, so this is a fun event for everyone to check out!
