Best Places to Grab Some Wings and Watch Football in Owensboro

As we enter peak football season, there’s never been a better time for us to make a list of local places to watch the big game!

Owensboro has a number of local restaurants and bars that are perfect for watching college and NFL games on the big screen. You want wings with your game? Check. Beer? Check. Appetizers, nachos, burgers and other deliciously fried foods that are pretty much a necessity when it comes to football season? Check, check, check and check. These places have it all!

Let’s kick things off with one of our local sports bars–Banky’s Sports Bar & Grill, located at 1108 West 9th Street. This Black-owned, family-owned bar and restaurant serves delicious drinks and food (you gotta try their wings), and has a perfect setup for watching football on their big screens. You’ll get great service, a nice selection of food and drinks, and a fun, laid-back atmosphere.

Also downtown is Goodwood Owensboro, located right on the Ohio River with gorgeous waterfront views. This bar and brewery serves craft beers and barrel-finished spirits along with an absolutely outstanding food menu with all items made from scratch. You can sit indoors or outdoors at Goodwood, but you’d probably wanna sit inside for football games on TV. This is also a fun, casual place and good for large groups!

Right across from the Owensboro Convention Center is The Brew Bridge, Owensboro’s first local brewery in decades! Local beers are served on tap at this brewpub, and you’ll also find an amazing menu full of ALL the appetizers, Texas-style barbecue, burgers, and some of the best nachos in town. Brew Bridge has plenty of space, plenty of TVs for football season, and really great service.

If you want an incredible place to watch football AND score some absolutely delicious food, you gotta check out Shiloh’s Lounge. This restaurant and bar serves all kinds of soul food, smoked barbecue, great cocktails, beer on tap, and they have tons of TVs so you can check out whichever game you’re looking for.

One of Owensboro’s coolest bars aesthetically, The Pub on Second is great for smaller groups (and individuals traveling solo) who want a laid-back place to watch some football. Located right in the heart of downtown Owensboro, you’ll find a very creative list of martinis and cocktails, craft beer (some even brewed at The Pub on Second!) and a really fun atmosphere buzzing with energy. You can get some light appetizers here, but you can also order food and have it delivered from any of the nearby restaurants, which is super cool!

And over on the east side of the city is Beef O’ Brady’s, one of Owensboro’s long-time go-to places for watching sports all year round. But football season is especially fun at this restaurant! An incredible food menu full of Irish-inflected grub, coupled with tons of TVs and ice cold beer makes an outing to Beef’s a fun night for the entire family. This is a great place to cheer on and celebrate your team’s win.
