Get A Unique Speakeasy Experience at Callas Tavern in Owensboro

We’ve got another new restaurant alert! And this is one we think you’re all gonna be super excited about!

Callas Tavern & Restaurant is a BRAND NEW addition to Owensboro’s bustling restaurant scene. And its aesthetic is literally written in the name. This fine dining restaurant and bar features dim lighting, brick walls and a style that mirrors the 1920s era of Speakeasies and Prohibition.

And the building Callas Tavern resides in itself is historic, as well as its backstory. According to the Owensboro Messenger & Inquirer, Mike Callas, a Greek immigrant, opened his Callas Sweet Shop in the same building at 420 Frederica Street in 1921. Does it get any cooler than that?!

Inside, you’ll find Italian mirrors and pictures of historic downtown buildings lining the walls. You’ll also be transported back in time by a gorgeous hanging chandelier that is, again, reminiscent of classical 1920s style.

So let’s talk about the food and drinks. Callas Tavern & Restaurant has an amazing lineup of good, quality bourbon, so that’s your first reason to check it out if you’re new to Owensboro. On the food menu, you’ll find an array of appetizers, entrees, salads, burgers, steaks and desserts.

Some of the items on the menu include Southern Fried Catfish, Duck with Pear Marmalade, Creole Red Snapper, Wagyu New York Strip and Ribeye, Copper Creek Tomahawk Ribeye, a Berry Beef Sirloin, the Callas Burger, a classic Cobb Salad and many, many more. For dessert, you’ll find everything from New York Style Cheesecake to Derby Pie to Triple Chocolate Mousse Cake.

Callas Tavern & Restaurant will be open Tuesday-Saturday for lunch and dinner. Be sure to check them out for an amazingly unique experience!
