Top 3 Things to Do in Owensboro This Weekend: August 23-25

Bluegrass Century       

An amazing event for cyclists is coming to Owensboro this weekend! Bluegrass Century is a charity event hosted by Bicycle Owensboro that benefits YoungLife of Owensboro, Kentucky. This event brings in cyclists from all over to race for a good cause. There are three different course lengths: A 67-mile; a 100-mile and a 32-mile race will be held concurrently but will deviate to different courses along the way. All riders will roll out at 7 a.m. CST start, and riders will be welcomed with fully stocked rest stops along the route. Breakfast and lunch will be provided to riders and there will even be live entertainment periodically throughout the afternoon for you to enjoy! Bluegrass Century will take place on August 26 at Crosspointe Baptist Church. You can register right here.

Concert On The Lawn    

You’ll get to enjoy a FREE symphony concert here in Owensboro, so pack a picnic and grab your lawn chairs for an amazing night of music in the great outdoors. Concert On The Lawn will be held at Kentucky Wesleyan College on August 24. The Owensboro Symphony is presenting a variety of songs from your favorite classic TV shows, including “The Simpsons,” “Magnum P.I.,” “Dallas,” “Star Trek,” game shows and more! There’ll be games for the kiddos starting at 5:30 p.m. General Admission is free, but you can reserve tables and dinner for eight for $400, or $200 for tables and chairs without dinner. Otherwise, just bring your chairs or a blanket and find a spot on the vast front lawn at Kentucky Wesleyan. The show begins at 7 p.m. 

State Sporting Clays Championships     

You can see one of the coolest sport shooting competitions in the country right here in Owensboro this weekend! The 2024 Kentucky State Sporting Clays Championship is taking place at Mattingly Target Shooting Range for three days–August 23-25. This tournament will feature competitive shooting along with a variety of live entertainment and family-friendly activities to do as well! The competition includes Sub Gauge, Super Sporting, FITASC and the “Walker 100,” and is guaranteed to bring out the best shooters in the state of Kentucky. Walk-ins are welcome, but pre-registration is highly recommended.
