50 Days Until Spring–What To Look Forward To!

It’s been a little gray and gloomy out there, which is why it’s always great to have something to look forward to. And with less than 50 days ‘til Spring, we wanted to break down some of the warmer weather events happening in Owensboro this upcoming season! 

 

Owensboro Burger Week is taking over the city March 1-9 this year! This event will give you an amazing excuse to get out of the house and try as many delicious burgers as possible from Owensboro’s best restaurants. Each burger is only $7, and you’ll get to try everything from barbecue-slathered to bourbon-infused to breakfast burgers. 

Check out The Great American Bluegrass Jam March 15-17 for a weekend of authentic bluegrass fun. This event features the Kentucky Fried Pickin’ Hotel Jam, the Kentucky State Fiddle Championship, Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky THunder at the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame and Museum, excursions to Green River Distilling Company and the Bill Monroe Homeplace in Rosine, and much more in collaboration with downtown businesses. 

The artist hand picked by Elton John himself, The Rocket Man Show recreates the magic and live persona of a young Elton like no other. You can see the show at the RiverPark Center on March 22. 

An event for bluegrass fans and Deadheads alike, the new Jerry Garcia exhibition at the Bluegrass Hall of Fame is celebrating its opening with a weekend of live music, exclusive panels from some of Garcia’s closest friends and an immersive experience of exhibition tours. The weekend opening for Jerry Garcia: A Bluegrass Journey will be held March 28-30. 

Fear Expo LIVE is the newest National Haunted Attraction industry trade show bringing haunters and vendors together for a weekend of delightfully scary fun. Check it out at the Owensboro Convention Center April 12-14. 

Western Kentucky Botanical Garden is hosting its annual Plant Sale April 27, where you can shop for all your native and non-native perennials, herbs, vegetable plants and greenery. Enjoy a festival and vendors from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. 

Barbecue and bourbon combined into one amazing festival? Yes, please. Head to Owensboro May 10 and 11 for BBQ and Barrels, where you can taste our world-famous barbecue, shop from vendors and enjoy a bourbon-tasting experience that features over 35 distilleries.
