The Perfect Festivals to Close Out Summer

Well, folks, it’s officially August. Which means we are nearing the end of summer and, soon, we’ll be heading into Fall. Before you know it, we’ll be carving pumpkins for Halloween and trading in our T-shirts for hoodies.

But let’s not get ahead of ourselves just yet. There’s still several weeks of summer to go, so we put together a list of warm-weather events that you and your loved ones can enjoy before this season ends and the next one begins. If you want to keep the party going for as long as possible, check out these various festivals you can attend to close out Summer 2023!

Reid’s Orchard Peach Bliss

At our historic Reid’s Orchard facility, you can spend the afternoon enjoying live music, food and craft vendors, fresh, homegrown peaches and quality time with your family and friends. Peach Bliss will be held on August 8 from 4-8 p.m.

Sunflower Experience

Who doesn’t love a festival full of sunflowers and summer fun? At Trunnell’s Farm Market, you can check out two different events during the month of September. Sips & Sunflowers will be held September 8 and 15, while Dinner in the Blooms will be held September 2 and 9.

Multicultural Festival

The 2023 Owensboro Multicultural Festival is an amazing experience for anyone who’s ever attended. This year, we’re celebrating the festival’s 25th Anniversary! Held on the front lawn of First Presbyterian Church, there will be over 40 exhibit booths representing countries, cultures and community organizations from all over the world. Food vendors will feature flavors from around the globe and you can enjoy live performances from musicians, dancers and more. This event will take place on August 19 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Owensboro Air Show

We obviously can’t leave out the Owensboro Air Show! Held in downtown Owensboro September 15-17, all eyes will be on the skies over the Ohio River as performers showcase vintage warbirds, aerobatic demonstrations and military jets, including the USAF Thunderbirds! You can see a wide range of aircraft up close and personal at the Owensboro Regional Airport on Friday, Sept. 15, while two Air Shows will take place on Saturday and Sunday from 12:30-4:30 p.m. in downtown Owensboro. This event is free to the public!

Friday After 5

If you haven’t had the chance to make it to Friday After 5 yet, you’ve still got plenty of chances! Owensboro’s free, award-winning outdoor music fest will be held August 4, 11, 18 and 25, and the FA5 Finale will take place on September 1.
