Top 3 Things to Do in Owensboro This Weekend: May 12-14

Nashville Songwriter

The Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame and Museum is kicking things up a notch with its Nashville Songwriter Series this year! This year’s HITMAKERS edition will kick off on May 11 on the outdoor stage. You’ll get to hear the stories behind the songs from professional songwriters based in Nashville. You’ll want to bring your own chair for this event! The show starts at 7 p.m. and tickets are $20.

BBQ and Barrels

You’ll get to taste two of Owensboro’s greatest staples this weekend at BBQ and Barrels–a revitalization and rebirth of our International Bar-B-Q Fest with an added bourbon element for those who want the chance to try bourbon from over 30 different distilleries. Head to downtown Owensboro for our famous barbecue from over 20 cooking teams (including church teams and familiar favorites) and vendors, carnival rides, craft vendors and live music. Food sales begin at noon on Friday, May 12 while the bourbon events will be held at the Owensboro Convention Center on Saturday, May 13, along with the Backyard BBQ Cook-Off.

Mother’s Day Brunch

What better way to honor your mom than with a Mother’s Day Brunch? Leave the cooking (and cleaning) to the Owensboro Convention Center as they host a full-scale brunch in celebration of Mother’s Day on Sunday, May 14 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. A buffet will include belgian waffles, biscuits and gravy, roasted turkey and tons of desserts while you can win some awesome prizes and have fun with a photo booth. Tickets are $25 for adults and $12.50 for kids 6-12 years of age.
