Friday After 5 Preview for Summer 2023

The summer season will be here before you know it, which means it’s the perfect time to preview this season’s Friday After 5 outdoor music fest! This 16-week, summer-long, award-winning series of free outdoor concerts is held on our stunningly beautiful riverfront, and we’ve got an amazing lineup of artists to brag about! 

 

Friday After 5 will kick off on Friday, May 19 at 5:30 p.m. with “City Night.” Owensboro’s first-ever Jeeps and Jams Expo will be celebrated that night with live music coming from The U.S. Stones, Sugar Lime Blue, Happiness Jones and Lilly May.

 

On Friday, May 25, FA5 will host a special edition event celebrating the National GeoWoodstock event in town – the largest geocaching event in the world! You’ll hear live music from the Michael Gough Group, Stackin’ Eight’s, Josh Martin & Anthony Adams and The Thing with Feathers. 

 

On Friday, June 2  we will be celebrating MotorSports week with the RiverCity Bike Expo in town, the first round of WBKR Friday Night Fight Night Auditions, and during this historic night, you will enjoy music from The Owensboro Symphony with Troy Quinn and Rockapella,  Al Green & The Hard Times,  First & Main and Cam Thompson & Kalico. 

On Friday, June 9, FA5 will celebrate the life of the world-famous ‘Kentucky Kid’, Nicky Hayden, as the annual motorcycle ride finishes at the Street Fair. The stages will be filled with music by Funky Luck, Retro Shock, Flat Stanley, Jr. and Fat Box. On June 16, a special night of entertainment will bring you a talent show with the ICMA, bringing Todd Tilghman – the winner of Season 18’s “The Voice”, as the headliner, & Steve Bridgemon. You will hear 8 Track and the Jim Gustin Band and, back by popular demand, Vinyl Radio, 

 

June 23rd will bring Soul Kitchen to party the night away, with a special Grand Prize giveaway to be announced, so stay tuned! FA5 will celebrate the 4th of July on June 30 with music from the 202nd Concert Army Band, Blackstone Rock, the Hobbs Sisters and Descent. July 7th ‘Goes to the Dogs’ with some fun activities for your pets and you’ll hear music from 2 Miles Back, feat. Tommy Stillwell, First Fridays in the backyard of the Bluegrass Museum and Brass Pack will have you walking on sunshine. 

 

Caribou, a parade and Andy Brasher will fill the night on July 14 and Juice Box Heroes, Brothers Smith and Ariel & The High Wheels will play on July 21 during Farm-to-Table night complete with a hot air balloon. On July 28, it’ll be a tribute band kinda night, with A Rod Stewart Experience and Doorways–The Best of the Doors playing live, along with Bourbon Legend, formerly Usual Suspects. 

 

Celebrate with DJ Shay, the WBKR finals, First Fridays, LaTasha Shemwell and the Velvet Bombers on Aug 4th, then escape to Hawaii for the night on August 11 with Hawaiian Luau Night. Live music from The Pits, Hide Your Mamas and Bobby Clark will make for a fun night. On August 18, we’re celebrating the new Bluegrass Legends Car, Truck and Motorcycle event with music from Rubbing Alcoholics, Shaun Murphy and Lew Jetton & 61 South. 

 

But wait–what a night when FA5 brings you Madmen Across the Water Tributes: Billy Joel opening for Elton John on May 25th, along with That’s What She Said and Big Al & The Heavyweights.  Closing night on Sept 1st is going to be a fun filled night to be announced soon!
