Our Guide to an Affordable Date Night in Owensboro

We’re going to let you all in on a little secret: Date nights don’t always have to be expensive.

It’s getting close to Valentine’s Day, which means a lot of you are probably making plans for a big night out. But if you happen to be working on a tight budget, we’ve got plenty of affordable options for your next date night!

Not only is a tour at Green River Distilling Co. affordable at only $20 per person, but you get to taste three different bourbons while you’re there! This would make a great daytime date as tours run Monday-Saturday at 10 a.m., noon and 2 p.m.

Theatre Workshop of Owensboro is holding an event in February called “Laughter on the 23rd Floor” where you get, not only a meal provided by local restaurant Sassafras, but an entire performance following it! These dinner previews are some of TWO’s most popular events of the year and will be held February 17, 19, 24, 25 and 26 at only $40/person.

You can enjoy an entire night of live music at Brasher’s Lil’ Nashville in downtown Owensboro and, most nights, all you have to pay is a cover charge of $10!

Check out the GhostLight Lounge on Facebook to see upcoming events. Located next to the RiverPark Center, they often hold comedy nights, karaoke and other live music events without a cover charge. They also have a full bar inside.

For those who love the arts, the Owensboro Museum of Fine Art is the perfect place for an affordable date, featuring a handful of galleries and a wide range of artistic styles. While touring an art museum can be pricey in some cities, you can tour OMFA for free here in Owensboro (though donations are always appreciated). This would be more of an early evening date, as the museum’s gallery hours run from noon-1 p.m. Tuesday-Friday and 1-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
