Everyone loves a good holiday picture. Whether it’s for Christmas cards, social media or even to hang on your wall, it can be tough to find that perfect setting that just perfectly captures the essence of the season.
However, Owensboro-Daviess County has so many cool places to use as a holiday backdrop, we’re going to break them down into a list!
Christmas at Stonegate is one of the best places in the area for big, bold lights. With houses decorated all throughout the neighborhood of Stonegate (off Highway 54), you can gather your loved ones around and capture the glow of Christmas all around you! The best part is, you can drive to Stonegate to see the lights Sunday-Thursday from 5-8:30 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 5-10 p.m. Donations at the entrance are collected for two local charities.
Downtown Owensboro is another great place for holiday photos. You can stand in front of the giant Christmas tree in Smothers Park, next to decorations hung along the Ohio River, or even pose for a photo with the lit-up bridge in the background! The Holiday Inn Downtown Riverfront also features an outdoor igloo that would make a pretty cool backdrop.
Another place that’s great for photos is Legion Park, located right in the center of Owensboro. There are lights and decorations set up all across the park, and you’ll have multiple places to pose next to or in front of for a great photo opp.
If you want a picture with Santa himself, there’s no better place than the Owensboro Convention Center to get your chance! The 5th annual Breakfast with Santa will be held on Saturday, December 17 from 7:30-10 a.m. Not only will you get your photo opp, but you’ll score a delicious pancake breakfast to go with it! Tickets are only $10 in advance, or $12 at the door.
And if you’re in the market for a more picturesque setting for photos, head to Yellow Creek Park to visit the Lambert Pioneer Village toward the back of the park. The log cabins are decorated for Christmas, and you can get tons of beautiful photos at this location.
