2A State Championships

The 2A Kentucky State Basketball Championships are kicking off this week at the Owensboro Sportscenter. Featuring eight girls’ and eight boys’ teams from schools with 500-900 students, the 2A Championships will bring hundreds of student athletes to Owensboro for some exciting competition. The tournament runs Thursday-Sunday, with the state championships taking place on the final day. This is the third year in a row that Visit Owensboro has hosted the 2A State Championships, and hotels across the city will be filled with athletes, families and fans from all across the state! 

Rodney Dillard & The Dillards  

Rodney Dillard & The Dillards are coming to you live at the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame and Museum on January 15. A founding member of The Dillards along with his brother Doug, Rodney was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2009 and his band garnered recognition for playing The Darlings on The Andy Griffith Show. The Dillards were also known for “modernizing and popularizing the sound of bluegrass in the 1960s and 1970s,” so if you want to check out a band with a unique sound and historical relevance to boot, this is the show for you. Tickets are $20 and the show starts at 7 p.m.

Lonestar 

Known best for their love songs you love to slow dance to (“Amazed” surely rings a bell), Lonestar is bringing that soothing, melodic sound to Owensboro on January 15 at the RiverPark Center. Known for merging their country roots with strong melodies and rich vocals, Lonestar has amassed RIAA-certified sales in excess of 10 million album units since their national launch in 1995. The concert kicks off at 8 p.m. and tickets are only $21 each, so grab them while you can!
