Competing for Her Dream Job

For as long as I can remember Katie Bouchard has been preparing for the Miss Kentucky pageant. Ever since she was a little girl she would go and watch the Miss Kentucky pageant each summer and every year the new Miss Kentucky would become her role model. She knew one day she wanted to be up on the stage competing for the title of Miss Kentucky.

Preparing for the Miss Kentucky pageant takes a year. Katie said her preparation consisted of mock interviews, working out at Owensboro’s Pure Barre, and mentally and physically preparing herself for the competition.

This is Katie’s second year competing in the Miss Kentucky pageant and she told me she is going to continue to fight until her dream is achieved. Last year Katie was awarded with the Non-Finalist Interview Award, the Newcomer Award, the Best Smile Award, and 2nd Runner Up for The Quality of Life Award. She did an incredible job last year and this year I know she will do the same.

This week Katie has been at the University of Kentucky getting ready to compete for her dream job as Miss Kentucky. “Miss Kentucky week is full of appearances, community service, thanking sponsors and preparing for the competition,” she said. Interviews were held this past Wednesday. “It seriously couldn’t have gone any better,” she said. “I can’t believe I just interviewed for the job of Miss Kentucky!” Prelims will start Thursday and end on Friday, and finals are on Saturday.

Good luck, Katie, as you compete for your dream job as Miss Kentucky. Your hometown is cheering for you!
