KY Rough Riders hosting Mayor Payne
The Kentucky Rough Riders will welcome Owensboro Mayor Ron Payne as our special guest at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, at the DCPS Learning Center, 1700 Parrish Plaza Drive (between Moonlite and the former bypass).
Mayor Payne will share information about some of the exciting opportunities that have taken place or are planned for our community, including the downtown and 54 TIF districts, the recent announcement about a third new downtown hotel, an overview of the development of Smothers Park, new businesses, recent developments involving the Sportscenter and the IceMen hockey team and the status of a new senior citizens center. Mayor Payne will share his perspectives about these and many other announcements that have been made in recent years as our city has blossomed.
Kentucky Rough Rider meetings are always open to the public. Everyone is invited to attend and learn more about how dreams of a revitalized community have become a reality, and what’s ahead! The presentation will be followed by an opportunity to ask questions and share suggestions and comments.
The Kentucky Rough Riders is an organization dedicated to the legacy of Theodore Roosevelt through exploration of historic and current events and community service. The club meets at 6 p.m. the third Tuesday of each month at the DCPS Learning Center. This special meeting is scheduled on Feb. 11 to avoid conflicts with the Owensboro City Commission meeting schedule.
