This year, the Polar Plunge moves to a brand new home in the heart of Owensboro at Mitch McConnell Plaza! The Plunge is one of the biggest Special Olympics fundraisers of the year. The Plunge is a truly unique event and includes a fun, festive atmosphere with food and great prizes. The Plunge works just like a Walk-a-Thon, but with one big twist. Participants still solicit donations to support their effort (a BARE minimum of $75 to take part or $50 for Junior Plungers), but instead of walking, Polar Bears take a chilly dip into a pool set up in Mitch McConnell Plaza in Downtown Owensboro.Last year, the Polar Plunge raised nearly $30,000 to support the efforts of Special Olympics athletes. This year, in addition to moving to a new location, Polar Plunge festivities include the inaugural Donut Dash 5k, a fun run/walk through Downtown Owensboro where participants gobble donuts as part of their run.Pick the Plunge or the Donut Dash, or do them both for double the fun!
