Music lovers crowd the Owensboro river front during Friday After 5

In Owensboro, Kentucky, we are stretching 2017’s Day of Darkness into a long weekend packed with events to celebrate the solar eclipse of Monday, Aug. 21.

Owensboro is located in the partial eclipse zone only 80 miles from the point of greatest eclipse near Hopkinsville, Kentucky. Owensboro will experience the effects of the eclipse from 11:56 a.m.-2:50 p.m. central time. The time of maximum eclipse in Owensboro is 1:25 p.m.

Owensboro’s weekend of events begins on Friday, Aug. 18, on the Owensboro riverfront.

$5 Million Boost Puts International Bluegrass Music Center on Track for 2017 Opening

OWENSBORO, Ky. (April 14, 2015) – A $5 million boost from Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear has put the International Bluegrass Music Center on track to open in 2017 and secured Owensboro’s place as one of America’s top music destinations.

Owensboro’s ROMP Festival named 2014 Event of the Year by IBMA

ROMP posterOWENSBORO — Old Crow Medicine Show, David Grisman, Sam Bush, Railroad Earth, Ricky Skaggs, Del McCoury, Sarah Jarosz, and 23 String Band are among the dozens of talented acts set to perform at the International Bluegrass Music Association’s event of the year — Owensboro’s ROMP Festival, June 25-28.

ROMP Festival is a four-day music and camping festival hosted at both the museum, in downtown Owensboro, and at Yellow Creek Park, a gorgeous 150-acre facility that is a perfect setting for a music festival.  ROMP features traditional and legendary bluegrass artists alongside old time and progressive bluegrass musicians who expand the boundaries to the far-flung roots and branches of bluegrass.
