Music lovers crowd the Owensboro river front during Friday After 5

In Owensboro, Kentucky, we are stretching 2017’s Day of Darkness into a long weekend packed with events to celebrate the solar eclipse of Monday, Aug. 21.

Owensboro is located in the partial eclipse zone only 80 miles from the point of greatest eclipse near Hopkinsville, Kentucky. Owensboro will experience the effects of the eclipse from 11:56 a.m.-2:50 p.m. central time. The time of maximum eclipse in Owensboro is 1:25 p.m.

Owensboro’s weekend of events begins on Friday, Aug. 18, on the Owensboro riverfront.

Bourbon making returns to Owensboro with revival of historic distillery

OWENSBORO, Ky. (July 30, 2015) — Crafting fine bourbon is part of Owensboro’s heritage, and that distinctly Kentucky tradition is returning with the revival of an historic distillery.

 

Governor Steve Beshear previously announced the reopening of the 130-year old Charles Medley Distillery, purchased last year by Terressentia Corp. Today the governor returned to Owensboro for a groundbreaking and dedication ceremony to rename the distillery.
