Art Camp provides children a wonderful introduction to several different forms of visual arts.  From painting to collages to print and everything in between, this visual art week will give kids an opportunity to explore a new area of art each day.  Projects will vary from individual pieces to a large scale group that will be installed and displayed at the RiverPark Center.

Lunch and snack will be provided to each camper each day.

Wiggle, Giggle and Pretend Camp (The Belles and the Beasts at the Castle) is for ages 3 to 8 years of age, from 9 AM to 12 Noon.  Participates will enjoy dance, crafts, costuming, snacks, stage make up, water games, and more.  Special day include Bubbles, Bouncy and Water Games Day on Tuesday, Belle’s Tea Party on Wednesday, and Red Carpet Showcase on Friday.  Week one is July 10th thru July 14th and week two is July 17th thru July 21st. “World War I and America” Exhibit

April 1, 2017 thru November 11, 2017 “World War I and American”, sponsored by a grant received from the Library of America in partnership with the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History and the National Endowment for the Humanities.  April 6, 2017 marks the 100th anniversary of the United States’ entrance into World War I.  Patrons will have a chance to walk through a WWI trench, learn what life was like for the soldiers and how Owensboro’s Homefront helped the war effort.  The exhibit will run April 1st through November 11, 2017. Museum Hours:  Closed on Monday, Tuesday through Saturday 10 am to 5 pm, Sunday 1 pm to 5 pm.

The Dust Bowl Basketball Tournament has become the most anticipated event of the summer in the tri-state area.  Every night is a meet and greet with family, friends, classmates, supporters, and fans.  It traditionally begins the Third full weekend every year in July.  This event is held at Kendall-Perkins Park, a beautiful two acre park located in Owensboro, KY.

The 24th Annual Alma Randolph Foundation’s fundraising event will be held Saturday, July 22, 2017, at the Owensboro Convention Center.  Keynote speaker will be Darryl Strawberry, Major League Baseball great and World Series Champion, who is now an ordained Christian Minister and Great Author.  The program will include remarks and presentations from local and state dignitaries, with music by Alma Randolph.

Kids and Art in Artland

ARTLAND, an exciting new dimension in education, is an interactive art studio created especially for children ages 4 to 10. It is a special place designed to challenge and stimulate the imagination while allowing children to create works of art at their own pace.

 ARTLAND is FREE and open to all.

Hours:  Tuesday thru Friday 12 – 5 PM; Saturday & Sunday 1 PM – 4 PM, Closed Mondays and Holidays

Historic Coal Mine Tour – The Day in the Life of a 1930’s Rudy Coal Mine Miner Put on a coal mine helmet and join us on a trip through the Rudy Coal Mine, an historic Daviess County coal mine featuring the history of coal mining in the 19th Century, along with the 1930’s time period. This tour is include with admission, but space is limited. Please sign up at our admissions desk when you check into the museum. Enjoy the tour! Time: 3:00PM-4:00PM Location: Begins in our 1st Floor Gift shop area- Ends in The Coal Mine Museum is closed on Mondays.

44th Annual Dust Bowl Basketball Tournament

The Dust Bowl Basketball Tournament has become the most anticipated event of the summer in the tri-state area.  Every night is a meet and greet with family, friends, classmates, supporters, and fans.  It traditionally begins the Third full weekend every year in July.  This event is held at Kendall-Perkins Park, a beautiful two acre park located in Owensboro, KY.

The Corporate Slyder Cup is a corporate challenge to kick off the American Cornhole Organization World Championships.  All 64 teams of 5 are guaranteed two matches and will compete for prizes and bragging rights!  Profits from the event will be donated to the local chapter of the American Red Cross.

“World War I and America” Exhibit

April 1, 2017 thru November 11, 2017 “World War I and American”, sponsored by a grant received from the Library of America in partnership with the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History and the National Endowment for the Humanities.  April 6, 2017 marks the 100th anniversary of the United States’ entrance into World War I.  Patrons will have a chance to walk through a WWI trench, learn what life was like for the soldiers and how Owensboro’s Homefront helped the war effort.  The exhibit will run April 1st through November 11, 2017. Museum Hours:  Closed on Monday, Tuesday through Saturday 10 am to 5 pm, Sunday 1 pm to 5 pm.
