Friday After 5 is the award-winning, summer-long series of free outdoor concerts held every Friday on the eight block, stunningly beautiful Owensboro, Kentucky riverfront.  The festival includes live bands, family events, food trucks and entertainment.  Our signature “Toast to the Sunset” takes place right on the riverfront at every Friday After 5.  There are five venues of entertainment plus a fun, kid-friendly street fair and costume characters. Friday After 5 has been named a “Top Ten Summer Festival” in Kentucky and has won the prestigious Messenger-Inquirer Reader’s Choice Platinum Award for “Best Community Event” for five consecutive years.

SUMMER SHORTS is back!  One of TWO’s most popular traditions features a collection of original one-act plays in their WORLD PREMIERE!  13 new plays have been selected from submissions from around the country, and even internationally, to be presented in this exciting festival.

SUMMER SHORTS is divided into two programs:  GROUP A and GROUP B.  This is necessary in order to present all 12 plays.  Six plays will be performed in GROUP A, the remaining selections with GROUP B.  The two schedules will be featured on alternating nights.  In order to enjoy all these fine new works, you must purchase a ticket to both groups.

Tickets in advance to SUMMER SHORTS 2019 are $18.00 for adults and $12.00 for students.  Patrons who simultaneously purchase tickets to GROUP A and GROUP B will receive a 25% discount.  There will be a $2.00 surcharge for tickets purchased at the door.  Tickets are now on sale online or by calling TWO (270) 683-5333.

The Daviess County Lions Club Fair is sponsoring a special concert with “Exile” on Saturday,  July 27th at 8PM!   The concert will take place at the Fairgrounds with the gates and beer gardens opening at 5 PM, with Exile hitting the stage at 8 PM. Concessions will be provided by the Daviess County Lions Club including the on-site Beer Garden.  No coolers or outside beverage allowed.  Lawn chairs are permitted and limited bleacher seating will be available.

The Cornhole Tournament will take place in the Swim City Pavilion with registration beginning at 10 AM on August 2nd.  Tournament begins at 11 AM.  Entry fee for each team is $10 with a maximum of teams at 32.  Cash prizes award to the top three teams!!!

4th Annual Bourbon & Bluegrass Century Ride O.Z. Tyler Distillery

The Bourbon & Bluegrass Century Ride is a charity event hosted annually by Bicycle Owensboro in support of Dream Riders of Kentucky; a nonprofit organization that provides equine assisted activities to individuals with disabilities.  The Bourbon & Bluegrass Century Ride offers routes and distances for every level of rider from beginner to competitive cyclists. Route lengths include a full century (100 miles), metric century (62 miles), and a 33-mile route.  Last year 550 cyclists participated in the ride; the youngest rider being 9 and the oldest being 82. Riders came from as close as Owensboro to as far away as Texas, Kansas, and Florida. 

This year’s ride will take place on Saturday, August 3, 2019.  The ride will begin and end at O.Z. Tyler Distillery, 10 Distillery Road on Saturday, August 3rd. Riders will be provided with a continental breakfast prior to the race and a post-ride lunch.  On Friday evening, join everyone for a mixer/packet pickup as well as distillery tours and bourbon tastings at O. Z. Tyler Distillery.  After the mixer, head downtown for lots of entertainment and fun things happening along the riverfront including Friday After 5!  Where the week-end begins!

A full weekend of racing-related activities kicks off at Windy Hollow Raceway Park on Friday August 2, 2019 followed by a family fun day at the SportsCenter on Saturday and wrapping up with a full county wide race event ending at Kentucky Motor Speedway on Sunday August 4, 2019. Fans, new and old, will get the opportunity to meet their favorite drivers, interact with members of the community, and learn more about the sport that has captivated the country for more than 130 years. Whether you’re a fan of circle track racing, straight line racing, downhill racing or a good old fashioned demolition derby, there will be plenty of racing action spanning the county to satisfy anyone looking for family fun. We are also excited to announce the return of several very well known faces to Owensboro to lend their hand and an autograph or two to help show support of this great sport and tradition.

The 34th annual Bluegrass in the Park & Folklife Festival is set for August 9-10, 2019, in Henderson, Kentucky. The award-winning Bluegrass in the Park Folklife Festival returns this year for a weekend of live music, children’s activities, food, folklife displays and more. The festival features two days of free bluegrass music and activities in an incredible riverfront setting.

This year’s line-up is said to feature both traditional and progressive bluegrass acts, starting Friday at 4 p.m. On Saturday, the day of events kicks off with Breakfast in the Park at 7 a.m. with music and special events taking place all day. Cost of all events at the festival are free.

Friday After 5 is the award-winning, summer-long series of free outdoor concerts held every Friday on the eight block, stunningly beautiful Owensboro, Kentucky riverfront.  The festival includes live bands, family events, food trucks and entertainment.  Our signature “Toast to the Sunset” takes place right on the riverfront at every Friday After 5.  There are five venues of entertainment plus a fun, kid-friendly street fair and costume characters. Friday After 5 has been named a “Top Ten Summer Festival” in Kentucky and has won the prestigious Messenger-Inquirer Reader’s Choice Platinum Award for “Best Community Event” for five consecutive years.

Each year, on the 3rd Saturday of August, First Presbyterian Church hosts the Owensboro Multicultural Festival on their front lawn. The 21st Annual Multicultural Festival will be on August 17th, 2019, 11:00 am to 6:00 pm and is free for the whole community. We hope to foster the understanding and respect of our similarities and differences so that we may build a stronger community.

The festival includes entertainment with vocal and instrumental music, dance, storytelling, demonstrations, and traditional costume from around the world.  There will be informational booths prepared by individuals or groups in the community who are from or who have traveled throughout the world who will talk with you freely about their experiences.  Bring your appetite!  Included is a food court offering food from around the world.

Continuing a beloved tradition of bringing great live music into the local community, the Owensboro Symphony Orchestra presents Concert on the Lawn “Sports Orchestrated” themed “Salute to Sports” on August 17, 2019 at 7:00 PM.  The annual concert takes place on the front lawn of Kentucky Wesleyan College, 3000 Frederica Street, with the festivities beginning at 5:30 pm.

The event is free to attend, the Symphony will offer seating options for those who would rather come and enjoy the performance without having to pack up their chairs, tables and dinners, chairs and dinner for 8 can be reserved for $275.  A table and eight chairs only for $125.  Individual meals (no seating) can be reserved for $20 a person. The meal will include Bourbon Glazed Pork Tenderloin, Home-style Vegetables, Fruit Cobblers and Tea/Lemonade. Buffet meals will not be sold on the night of the event – they must be purchased in advance by calling the Symphony at 270-684-0661, extension 111. Reservations must be made prior to August 12, 2019.

The Symphony will be playing the best in sports music as the orchestra performs all the favorites from the National Anthem to Chariots of Fire, themes from the NFL and NBA and many more!!  For those with a creative flare-have fun with the “Salute to Sports” table decoration contest!!!  A great evening on the lawn with friends and family!
