Top 3 Things to Do in Owensboro This Weekend: April 5-7

Solar Eclipse Experience

You can experience the upcoming solar eclipse in the coolest way this week! On April 8, head over to the Owensboro Museum of Science and History for their Total Solar Eclipse Experience. Thanks to a partnership between our museum and the Evansville Museum of Art, History and Science, you can see the path of totality as you’re provided a 30-minute bus ride from Owensboro to Evansville to see the complete eclipse. Bring a chair or a blanket and leave the rest to us as you’ll get a meal, snacks and shades–plus, you won’t have to worry about parking. You can get tickets for $99 if you’re a member of the museum, or for $125 if you’re not a member. This event will be held on April 8.

Yellow Banks Volleyball Invitational

The Owensboro Convention Center is hosting another amazing volleyball tournament this weekend, and we’ve got all the info right here! The 2024 Yellow Banks Invite will be held April 6 and 7. Hosted by Fernando Morales, head coach of the University of Evansville volleyball team, this is guaranteed to bring some of the best female players aged 12-18 to the courts for two days of competitive fun. Be sure to check it out while you’re in town! Additional details can be found right here.

See The Blooms at WKBG

Western Kentucky Botanical Garden is beginning to bloom, so it’s time to get out of the house and enjoy one of the most beautiful places in Owensboro! This 12-acre facility is home to so many plants and flowers it would be impossible to name them all. You can take walks around the facility or sit on a bench and take in the scenic view around you. And on April 8, you can head to WKBG for their Eclipse Viewing event at a unique setting. Admission is $4 for adults, and WKBG has 300 pairs of solar glasses available thanks to their sponsor, Southern Star Central Gas Pipeline. But even if you don’t catch the eclipse, you can still spend the weekend enjoying the beauty of nature at the Garden.
