Owensboro Hosting One of America’s Biggest Catfish Tournaments

Owensboro is hosting one of the biggest catfish tournaments in the nation in just a couple months, and we’ve got everything you need to know about it!

The King Kat Tournament Trail is all about fishing, hunting, archery and more, and their catfishing tournament is known for having the largest payout with a low entry fee for all teams. This is a huge deal for those in the catfishing community. Roughly 100 teams from all across the country are expected to compete in this year’s competition.

The three-day event will be held May 2-4, and all fishing will take place on the Ohio River, with weigh-ins at the Owensboro Convention Center.

Officials said they expect well over 200 pounds of catfish to be caught during this tournament. Entry fees will be $300 per team. A payout has not yet been announced, but it’s expected to be big!

Even more, there will be an Outdoor Expo held at the Owensboro Convention Center, which will include vendors, activities and a keynote speaker for those who love fishing, hunting, hiking and archery. This event alone will bring hundreds of visitors to Owensboro to shop, learn and experience this one-of-a-kind convention. The expo will also be free to attend!

Footage from the Owensboro event will be featured on King Kat’s TV show on the Pursuit Channel and YouTube in 2025.
