Crying Uncle Bluegrass Band
The Winter Warmer Series is continuing at the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame and Museum this week with Crying Uncle Bluegrass Band! This is gonna be an amazing show as CUBB is recognized as one of the most exciting young bands in acoustic music right now. They play a unique mix of bluegrass, DAWG (David Grisman music), jazz and modern. The band includes the 2023 National Flat Pick Guitar Champion Ian Ly, and CUBB was the recipient of the 2023 IBMA Momentum Band of the Year. The group has played all over the world, and you can hear them yourself at a cozy, intimate venue on the Hall of Fame’s second floor. You can see the band play on February 8. Tickets are $20 and the show starts at 7 p.m.
Zydeco Experience at RPC
We’ve got a very cool experience for you this weekend at the RiverPark Center as Terrance Simien brings The Zydeco Experience to the stage. Simien is a two-time Grammy winning artist and 8th generation Louisiana Creole who’s been shattering the myths and misinformation about what traditional Zydeco roots music is. This is American roots music born of the Black and mixed race French-speaking Creoles of South Louisiana at its finest. Zydeco is dynamic and evolving, remaining relevant to allow its artists to express themselves within their genre without constraints. You can see The Zydeco Experience at RPC on February 10. Tickets are $29 and the show starts at 7 p.m.
Blue Bridge Volleyball Tournament
This one’s for the volleyball fans out there! The AAU 2024 Valentine Volley Super Regional will be held at the Owensboro Convention Center for two days on February 10 and 11. This tournament will serve as a qualifier for the AAU National Championships that take place in Orlando in June. Hundreds of athletes from across the country will travel to Owensboro to shoot their shot at a championship trophy, so this is a great opportunity to see some of the best volleyball players in the US compete for that top spot. Admission is $15 for adults for a single day and $20 for a weekend pass. Children five and under get in free. All tickets will be sold at the door.
