Owensboro Air Show
One of the most exciting times of the year is officially upon us, friends, as the Owensboro Air Show takes to the sky this weekend in downtown Owensboro. We’re expecting thousands of visitors for this incredible two-day performance featuring some of the world’s greatest pilots. This year, you’ll see the USAF Thunderbirds zip, flip and soar through the sky along with awe-inspiring performers from vintage warbirds and aerobatic demonstrations from a slew of military jets. Held September 16 and 17, the Owensboro Air Show is free to the public, but those wanting front row access through reserved seating can purchase tickets right here. On September 15, head to the Owensboro Regional Airport to see a wide range of aircraft up close and personal and meet some of the pilots! Tickets are $5 each and the event runs from 4:30-8 p.m.
Nitty Gritty Dirt Band
If you want to make the most out of your Owensboro Air Show experience, make plans for an after party! On September 16, the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame and Museum will host Nitty Gritty Dirt Band for an Air Show After Party on the outdoor stage. Just bring a chair or blanket with you for this concert! Kentucky Shine will kick things off at 4 p.m. followed by Nitty Gritty Dirt Band at 5:30. Each ticket also includes access to the lawn for a special viewing of the Air Show! Tickets are $38 and children three and under get in free.
Bourbon & Cigars at Trunnell’s
Bourbon, cigars, charcuterie and sunflowers on a gorgeous, sprawling farm. It doesn’t get a whole lot more Kentucky than that. And that’s the best way to describe “On the Rocks & Rolled” at Trunnell’s Farm Market. Held on Saturday, Sept. 16, you can sip some bourbon and enjoy a cigar amongst the sounds of live entertainment and views of more than a million sunflower blooms. Immerse yourself in this tranquil atmosphere and, if you’re a parent, enjoy a much-needed night to yourself at this 21-and-older event. This bourbon and cigar night runs from 6-10 p.m. and tickets start at $69.99.
