Travel to Owensboro for the Great American Bluegrass Jam

Owensboro is doing big things when it comes to Bluegrass music, y’all. And this year, we’ve got a brand new event dedicated to all things bluegrass with The Great American Bluegrass Jam! 

 

This weekend-long festival will take place in downtown Owensboro March 17-19 with TONS of different events for all bluegrass fans to enjoy: 

 

–The Kentucky Fried Pickin’ Hotel Jam will happen at the Holiday Inn Downtown Riverfront. Guests will pick and play alongside other musicians from across the country. Anyone is able to see these around-the-clock jam sessions. 

 

The Kentucky State Fiddle Championships will be held at the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame and Museum. Areas of competition include flatpick guitar, fiddle, mandolin, dulcimer, old-time banjo, old-time singing, Bluegrass banjo, dancing and the Championship Fiddle-Off. There is no fee to enter and pre-registration is open right now! 

 

–Guests can sign up for an excursion to see the birthplace of the “Father of Bluegrass” Bill Monroe. The journey will also take you to Monroe’s beloved Uncle Pen’s cabin, as well as the Rosine Cemetery, the Rosine Barn for lunch and music, and the new Bill Monroe Museum. 

 

King’s Highway will perform on the lobby stage at the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame and Museum at 6 p.m. on March 17, followed by The Earls of Leicester, who will play a live concert at the Hall of Fame and Museum at 7 p.m. 

 

Trips to Green River Distilling Co. will be scheduled with transportation from the Holiday Inn. Downtown businesses will be spotlighted and guests will be given a full map and listings guide for ongoing events, live music, specials and more.
