Possibly one of the most ingenious and innovative music groups to come through Owensboro, Gangstagrass is coming to the RiverPark Center on February 11, and we’re going to break down the many reasons why you should treat yourself to this amazing show!
First of all, Gangstagrass combines two great American traditions into a perfectly blended musical genre of its own through bluegrass and hip hop. It might sound, well, different when you read it like that, but hearing and seeing this brand new genre is nothing short of spectacular. And being different is a good thing.
If you need any references, just know that Gangstagrass was nominated for an Emmy and was proclaimed “America’s Band” by Americana Highways magazine.
Not only that, but the group’s latest album, “No Time for Enemies,” climbed to No. 1 on the Billboard bluegrass charts, making them one of the most popular bluegrass bands on the market.
According to the RiverPark Center, Gangstagrass famously highlights the things that make our country so great – ingenuity, creativity, freedom, unity, individual strengths of the people and the struggles we all face – and distills them into a message of “common ground in the form of original songs that have everyone up and dancing.”
