Top 3 Things to Do in Owensboro This Weekend: December 30-January 1

New Year’s Eve Balloon Drop

If you’re looking for a family-friendly way to celebrate the new year, head to downtown Owensboro for a day of fun, festivities and, best of all, balloons! The Owensboro Museum of Science and History will hold its annual Balloon Drop in the form of hundreds of multi-colored balloons floating to the ground to kick New Year’s off the right way. Enter a half-pot raffle for the chance to win some extra holiday cash, and celebrate 2023 with all your loved ones from 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m. on December 31. Admission is $5 for nonmembers and free for members!

Space Cowboys at Brasher’s Lil’ Nashville

For the second year in a row, Brasher’s Lil’ Nashville is toasting to the new year in a big way with its New Year’s Eve Party on December 31. This year’s theme is “Space Cowboy,” so go on and saddle up with the best themed outfit you can find. All general admission tickets will include hors d’oeuvres and are expected to sell out fast, so be sure to grab them while you can right here! Held from 6:30 p.m.-1 a.m., enjoy live music from Josh Merritt and Andy Brasher and Friends, as well as an onsite photo booth to capture memories with all your favorite people.

New Year’s Eve Masquerade

For all the adults out there who need a good night out, there’s no better place than the Owensboro Convention Center to celebrate New Year’s Eve in style. OCC’s New Year’s Eve Masquerade Party will start with a cocktail hour from 7-8 p.m. followed by live music from Emerald Empire Band. Come dressed to impress in your favorite masquerade attire! Tickets start at $20 for general admission, but you can also reserve your own table (4 people for $100 and 8 for $200). The cocktail hour add-on is available for all ticket holders at $30 apiece. This event is reserved for the 21-and-older crowd and takes place on December 31.
