Holiday Events for the Whole Family

As we get closer and closer to Christmas Day, we wanted to invite visitors and locals alike to partake in a number of family-friendly holiday activities that are sure to boost your spirits leading up to the big day!

Christmas at Panther Creek runs every night from 6-9 p.m. at Panther Creek Park. You and your family can ride together in your vehicle to experience over 500,000 lights and more than 50 displays along a 1.15 mile long driving tour. Grab your hot chocolate and turn on the holiday tunes for this country adventure! Admission is $5/vehicle and the event runs until January 2.

On the topic of Christmas lights, head to Legion Park in the heart of Owensboro to experience “Holiday in the Park” with your family and friends. There are tons of lights and displays to see, and it’s free to the public! The event runs through January 1 each night. Meanwhile, the Owensboro Christmas Lights, held in the Stonegate neighborhood off Highway 54, is another great drive- or walk-thru option for festive holiday lighting.

As part of Owensboro’s Hometown Christmas event, the Dancing Lights are one of the biggest draws of the holiday season! Head to Smothers Park in downtown Owensboro to experience a holiday light show every 15 minutes along with a variety of holiday songs. The event runs each night from 5-9 p.m. and is free to the public.

And while you’re downtown, swing by the Owensboro Convention Center to get your skate on at Energy on Ice. Overlooking the Ohio River, this synthetic outdoor ice rink costs $10/person to skate and you can find the details regarding dates and times right here.

At the Owensboro Museum of Science & History, you can celebrate the holidays for a whole week with the museum’s “Winter Break Blast,” where your kids can get into the holiday spirit with tons of activities from December 20-23.
