Owensboro has an amazing lineup of world famous Broadway shows coming to you this year as part of our “Broadway in Owensboro at RiverPark Center” series. RPC has scored some amazing talent for four different shows that include some of the biggest names in the game, so you won’t want to miss it!
The series will kick off with “Anastasia” on November 10, followed by “STOMP” on January 17, “The Simon & Garfunkel Story” on February 28 and “Jesus Christ Superstar” on April 16.
Anastasia is inspired by the film and comes from Tony Award-winning creators of the Broadway classic, Ragtime. The story is set in Russia and Paris as a young woman sets out to discover the mystery of her past. An epic adventure leads to a story about home, love and family.
Next up is STOMP – an explosive, inventive, provocative and unique experience for audiences of all ages. An international percussion sensation, this Broadway show has garnered tons of awards and rave reviews as the eight-member troupe uses everything except conventional instruments to fill the stage with music.
The Simon & Garfunkel Story uses huge projection photos and original film footage along with a live band performing all the famous band’s hits, including “Mrs. Robinson,” “Cecilia,” “Bridge Over Troubled Water” and “Homeward Bound.” This concert-style theater show chronicles the amazing journey shared by the folk-rock duo.
And finally – one of the most famous Broadway shows of our generation – Jesus Christ Superstar will hit the RPC stage on April 16, bringing the 2017 Olivier Award for Best Musical Revival winner to our very own theater. With lyrics and music by Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony winners Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber, Jesus Chris Superstar is set against the backdrop of extraordinary events during the final weeks in the life of Jesus as seen through the eyes of Judas.
