ROMP bringing amazing lineup of Bluegrass artists to Owensboro

“There’s just no other place like it” is a phrase we hear from ROMP-goers year after year. And this year, we expect to hear that very same sentiment.

With tons of chart-topping headliners and enough musical talent to change the mind of almost any naysayer regarding Bluegrass music, we couldn’t be more excited for this year’s roots and branches music festival to kick off.

Held on 152 acres of land at Yellow Creek Park, Owensboro’s 19th ROMP festival brings in visitors from all over the world (including all 50 states) each year. This year, ROMP will be held June 22-25 for four days of magical, eclectic, family- and pet-friendly fun in the beautiful outdoors.

While you’ll be hard-pressed to find a more naturistic setting for a music fest, it’s the AMAZING lineup those at the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame and Museum have put together that’s got us so pumped for ROMP 2022.

Live music on Wednesday will happen at the Jagoe Homes After Party Stage, with Brennen Leigh and the Theo & Brenna Band kickin’ things off.

On Thursday, we’ve got Grammy-winning band Punch Brothers taking the main stage, along with Leftover Salmon, Dan Tyminski (of O Brother, Where Art Thou? fame), multiple award-winning band The Gibson Brothers and The Quebe Sisters, who have performed with some top-notch musicians including George Straight, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Kacey Musgraves and The Avett Brothers.

Friday brings us an entirely new lineup of world-famous Bluegrass artists, with headliners The Del McCoury Band (with 31 International Bluegrass Music Association awards, multiple Grammy awards and a National Heritage Fellowship award to McCoury’s name), Grammy-winner Rhiannon Giddens, and We Banjo 3 rockin’ the main stage all day and night.

You’ll also get performances from Cole Chaney & Wolfpen Branch – this year’s band contest winner — and East Nash Grass on Friday.

Saturday headliners include Marty Stuart and His Fabulous Superlatives, with Stuart himself having toured with Lester Flatt and Johnny Cash before going on to win five Grammys over the course of his long, illustrious career. The Fabulous Superlatives have been together since 2002.

On Saturday, you’ll also hear from musical legend Tommy Emmanuel, who’s known across the world for his talent on the guitar strings. Grammy-winning bands Steep Canyon Rangers and The SteelDrivers will also hit the main stage Saturday, along with Lindsay Lou (dubbed a “Can’t Miss Act” at AmericanaFest), Grammy-nominated The Po’ Ramblin’ Boys, and Liam Purcell & Cane Mill Road, winner of the 2019 IBMA Award for Momentum Band of the Year.

Like we said, this year’s lineup is absolutely amazing, and it’s guaranteed to be a ROMP to remember. You can camp out at this four-day festival, or you can buy tickets for a single day or all four days!
