Head to Owensboro’s beautiful riverfront for Friday After 5

It’s Friday After 5 season, ya’ll!

For those who don’t know, Friday After 5 (FA5) is a multi-award-winning series of free outdoor concerts held every Friday for 16 weeks. It brings thousands of people to Owensboro each week to enjoy the sights and sounds of our beautiful downtown and includes live bands, family events, food trucks and a kid-friendly street fair with costumed characters running about.

You can find live entertainment across five different venues each week, as FA5 stretches across the riverfront on Veterans Boulevard from Frederica Street to the Holiday Inn Downtown Riverfront.

Friday After 5 will host several big-name performers this year, and we couldn’t be more excited to see them in-person!

On opening night (May 20), you can catch The Beatles Rock Band Show from 6-9:30 p.m. on the Jagoe Homes Riverfront Live stage. This group will perform a high energy, full-length rock show featuring hits from The Beatles, John Lennon and Paul McCartney for an experience you will never forget! This band has graced some of the biggest festival stages across the world and has scored countless TV and movie credits over the years, and they’ve sold millions of albums all over the world.

On May 27, local musician-turned-local celebrity Dakota Hayden will sing all the country music hits you could hope for from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Atmos Amphitheater at McConnell Plaza. This singer garnered fame for his performances on the most recent season of American Idol, where he earned the golden ticket to Hollywood!

Rising country music stars, The Hobbs Sisters, will perform live from the Jagoe Homes Riverfront Live stage on June 3 from 6-9:30 p.m.

You can catch another country music star on July 29 as Coffey Anderson takes the Jagoe Stage at the Atmos Amphitheater in McConnell Plaza from 7-10 p.m.

If you don’t know “The Git Up” song, you’ll know it after you see Blanco Brown perform it live at FA5. Brown, who has produced for celebrities such as Chris Brown and Pitbull and blurs the line between country music and hip-hop, will put on a show on the Owensboro Convention Center front lawn on August 19 from 7-10 p.m. for the “Git Up Challenge to Make a Difference.” It’s pretty much guaranteed that everyone in attendance will be doing the “two-step then cowboy boogie” by the end of the night. Or, at least attempting it.

And on Sept. 2, Grammy-winning band The Motels — known for popular gold records and Top 10 singles “Only the Lonely” and “Suddenly Last Summer” — will grace the stage with performer Bow Wow Wow — famous for the songs “I Want Candy” and “When In Rome” — taking you back to the 1980s for a night full of fun memories!

Friday After 5 will run May 20-September 2 this year, and it looks like it’s going to be a season for the books! Click here to see the full musical lineup, stage locations and events for each week.
