Find your favorite Kentucky golf course in Owensboro

With the 2022 Masters Tournament just days away from kicking off, it’s the perfect time to brag about the amazing golf courses you can play at across Owensboro-Daviess County. While Kentucky is known best for college basketball, our golf game in Owensboro is way above par, and here, that’s not a bad thing.

Whether you’re in the city or the county, there’s plenty of places to play a round of golf while you’re in town. Each golf course is unique, but they are all beautiful and well maintained.

If you’re in the city, you’ve got three options for golfing: Owensboro Country Club, Ben Hawes Municipal Golf Course and Hillcrest Golf Course.

While you must be accompanied by a member of Owensboro Country Club to play there, both Ben Hawes and Hillcrest are maintained by the City of Owensboro, so you can pay to play anytime you want. These courses are known for their lush green grass, tree-lined parameters and rolling hills. Even though you’re technically in city territory, you’d never know it.

Ben Hawes has an 18-hole regulation course and a nine-hole par 3 course. The front nine is built on hilly terrain and its back nine is built on flat terrain. This course offers 6,632 yards of golf and the Pro Shop offers pull carts, golf carts and rental clubs, plus a full line of golf apparel and the latest in clubs and balls.

At Hillcrest, meanwhile, you can enjoy a year-round, nine-hole golf course, as well as a pro shop, practice green and chipping green.

And if you want to stretch your legs a little and explore beyond the Owensboro city limits, you can find three of the nicest Kentucky golf courses located roughly 10 minutes outside of the city.

First off, even though Windridge is a country club, the site has opened its golf course to non-members for the last 10 years. This 18-hole facility features more than 6,000 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 71. You can enjoy a large pool, reception hall and lounge while you’re there as well.

At Panther Creek Golf Course, you can enjoy 18 of some of the toughest holes in Daviess County. Golfers of all skill levels and ages are invited to play at Panther Creek. With elevated greens and wide fairways, this course comes with spectacular views and white sand bunkers. It’s also surrounded by a wildlife habitat where you can see deer, turkey, ducks and geese along the way.

Meanwhile, The Pearl Club is arguably one of the prettiest golf courses in the Midwest. This award-winning course is as challenging and demanding as it is fair and forgivable. Featuring wide fairways and multiple tees for golfers of all levels, you can enjoy bentgrass greens, zoysia fairways, Bermuda rough, five lakes and multiple teeing areas.
