Owensboro Burger Week returning in a big way

After a very successful inaugural event in 2021, Owensboro Burger Week is back! And it’s already bigger and better this second time around, with over 30 different restaurants across Owensboro-Daviess County showcasing their best burger and selling it to customers for $7 March 1-5.

This year’s event is sponsored by the Kentucky Beef Council, Independence Bank, Hill View Farms Meats and Green River Appliance.

“With more than 11,000 burgers sold last year, we knew Burger Week needed to become a staple here in Owensboro, Daviess County.  It brought so much joy to customers and a much needed boost to our local restaurants during the pandemic,” said Dave Kirk, Visit Owensboro Destination Management.

According to Tim Ross, the City of Owensboro’s Public Events Director, Burger Week was a “tremendous success” last year, setting an example of the Owensboro community coming together for a good cause.

“Thousands of people were able to enjoy some amazing burgers and they helped our restaurant owners during a much-needed time.  We are excited about Burger Week 2022 and look forward to some more scrumptious creations from our restaurants,” Ross said.

During Owensboro Burger Week, each participating restaurant will sell a burger of their choosing for $7 including tax.  Each restaurant will decide how large the burger will be and if it comes with any sides.

“We are so excited to be able to participate in Burger Week this year.  Although every week is Burger Week at Wonder Whip, this event gives us an opportunity to think outside the box and create something special for our guests.  Most importantly, Burger Week is the perfect event to showcase all the wonderful dining options in Owensboro,” said Seth Woodward, Owner at Wonder Whip.

A tasting panel of local celebrities and food critics will blindly judge all the burgers from each of the participating restaurants throughout the week without knowing which restaurant the burger came from.

Judges will tally all of the scores to select an overall winner who will receive a traveling trophy and bragging rights for the Burger of the Year.  Last year’s winner was O’Bryan’s Bar & Grill.  Burger Week will also have a contest featuring a fabulous prize for everyone who participates and shares their Burger Week experience on Facebook or Instagram using the hashtag #owensboroburgerweek.
