Festival of Trees
It’s hard to fit everything that makes this event amazing into a short paragraph, but here goes! First of all, this is the Owensboro Museum of Fine Art’s 45th Annual Holiday Forest Festival of Trees, so the exhibit has a ton of historic relevance. Secondly, this year’s theme will reflect folk art traditions and culture as part of the OMFA’s Art from the Heart exhibit, which features 2D and 3D artwork from the Appalachian region’s top “non-academic” folk artists. Thirdly, this is the art museum’s “best-attended event of the year” and serves as a fundraiser that helps support it. Fourthly, the Festival of Trees is comprised of around 20 Christmas trees decorated by local schools, organizations, businesses and florists. And lastly, the exhibit runs from Nov. 13-Dec. 31, so you’ve got plenty of time to go check it out and bask in that warm holiday glow.
Bourbon Roots
You’ve got two different chances to see “Owensboro’s rowdiest band” perform live at Bar Louie. The first performance will be Saturday, November 20 at 8 p.m. and the second will kick off on Saturday, November 27 from 8-11 p.m. This high-energy Country/Rock band is native to Owensboro and just recently recorded an original country song! The band has been performing live across Kentucky and Indiana and is gaining a lot of followers, so be sure to check them out while you can. Bourbon Roots is comprised of lead vocalist Cody Glenn, lead guitarist Austin Campbell, bass player Kyle Broshears and Joey Lynn on the drums.
Friends! The Musical Parody
On November 23, you’ll get the chance to see one of the nation’s most beloved sitcoms reenacted on the stage. Friends! The Musical Parody has been touring across the entire country, from California to Canada to Maine, and its only Kentucky stop will be at Owensboro’s RiverPark Center! How cool is that? This comedic musical lovingly pokes fun at TV’s Friends, celebrating the adventures of your favorite group of 20- and 30-somethings as they navigate life, love and hardships in NYC. This show recreates your favorite moments from all 10 years of Friends through an uncensored, fast-paced, music-filled romp. According to E! News, this show “made our day, our month, and even our year!” We see what you did there, and we dig it. Tickets for Friends! The Musical Parody run between $19 and $39 and the show hits the stage at 7 p.m.
