Top 3 Things to Do in Owensboro This Weekend: November 12-14

Sam Bush

One of the originators of progressive Bluegrass Music, or “Newgrass” if you’re in the know, Sam Bush will be performing live at the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame and Museum on Friday, November 12 from 7-8:30 p.m. A master of the mandolin, fiddle, banjo and guitar, there’s only one Sam Bush, and he’s been rocking the Bluegrass Music scene the majority of his life. He’s won multiple Grammys, was the focus of the “Revival: The Sam Bush Story” documentary and has been named “Mandolin Player of the Year” by the International Bluegrass Music Association four different times. What else can we really say except, you really haven’t lived until you’ve seen Bush perform live. Which you should. This weekend. Tickets run between $42 and $68 per person depending on where you want to sit.

Here Come the Mummies

This show is bringing the weird to Owensboro in all the good ways. Here Come the Mummies is a funk band that’s known for its live performances and anonymous band members. The band is made up of professional musicians from Nashville and it’s rumored that these artists have collected a number of Grammy awards. However, that rumor is difficult to prove since the band members’ identities are kept “under wraps.” According to those closest to the group, legend claims the band was cursed after deflowering a great Pharaoh’s daughter, while others claim they are reincarnated Grammy-winning studio musicians.” You’ll have to be the judge when they perform live at RiverPark Center on November 12 at 7 p.m. This show is guaranteed to “bend your brain and melt your face,” which sounds like a scary good time, so get your tickets now before the show sells out!
