Featuring all things holiday-themed, this downtown shopping experience will have everything you need (or want!) for the Christmas season. From clothing to home décor and ornaments to wreaths, the Owensboro Convention Center’s Holiday Market will last THREE full days this weekend! The first 100 people who show up Saturday will receive a free grab bag and the first 60 kiddos who arrive on Sunday will get a free Santa hat or stocking to take home. This event is free to the public! Swing by the Convention Center from 3-7 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday or 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday to get an amazing holiday shopping experience.

The Nutcracker

Bringing new movement styles and innovative technology to the stage every year, Owensboro Dance Theatre’s “The German American Bank Nutcracker” is one of the most looked forward to events of the holiday season in Owensboro. Based on E.F. Hoffman’s tale, ODT’s The Nutcracker features the awe and wonder of moving digital backdrops as the audience enters Marie’s dream and joins her on a magical journey. The performance will include more than 180 community dancers and five professionals! Tickets are $17 and you’ll have TWO chances to see this show at the RiverPark Center—Saturday, Dec. 4 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 5 at 3 p.m.

Christmas Tree Lighting

In what’s become an annual holiday tradition, the City of Owensboro will officially light the downtown Christmas Tree at Smothers Park on Saturday. You won’t want to miss this event as the city will also unveil the brand new Dancing Lights, an interactive holiday light show featuring lights that dance to a different Christmas song every 15 minutes. Gather downtown at 5 p.m.  for the official ceremony and stay in the area afterward to enjoy the 12 Days of Christmas Downtown Holiday Stroll!
