Steven Curtis Chapman bringing the Christmas spirit to Owensboro with December show

Gospel Music’s most awarded artist, Steven Curtis Chapman, is coming to Owensboro for a live performance, and it’s a big deal. The five-time Grammy winner is recognized across the world for his faith-based music, and now Chapman is expanding on an already wide range of versatility with his newest Bluegrass album, “Deeper Roots: Where the Bluegrass Grows.”

While there’s always been touches of Bluegrass in Chapman’s songs, the Paducah, Kentucky native recently took a deeper dive into the genre that catalyzed his early interest in music.

According to Chapman’s website, “Some of [Chapman’s] earliest memories are of watching and hearing live bluegrass music with his dad on guitar and a couple of his dad’s best friends on the dobro and banjo.”

Chapman’s December 13 show at the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame and Museum could feature a couple of his newer songs, as well as some of the classic hits that span his decades-long career. Along with the five Grammys under his belt, Chapman’s illustrious career includes 59 Gospel Music Association Dove Awards, an American Music Award, 49 No. 1 singles and more than 11 million albums sold.

Even more, Chapman has made appearances on “Good Morning America,” “CBS Sunday Morning,” CNN, MSNBC, “60 Minutes,” E! Entertainment, “The Today Show,” Fox & Friends” and “The Tonight Show,” among many others.

With so many hit singles to his name, listing them all would be a challenge, but some of his most widely recognized songs include “I Will Be Here,” “Be Still and Know,” My Redeemer is Faithful and True,” “Cinderella,” “Dive,” “Live Out Loud,” “Signs of Life,” King of the Jungle,” What Kind of Joy” and “More to this Life.”

And while the list of accolades are enough to fill up a concert hall, Chapman’s show couldn’t come at a more opportune time. Falling just 12 days before Christmas (how perfect is that?), this Acoustic Christmas concert is going to be all about the holidays. You can expect to hear a variety of big holiday hits from the four Christmas albums Chapman has released over the years.

Tickets for this show are expected to sell out quickly, so grab them while you can! VIP seating is $58 per person and reserved seating is $46. The show kicks off at 7 p.m.
