West Kentucky Brewery Hop launches Tuesday; includes nine cities, 13 breweries

Attention all craft beer aficionados! the West KY Brewery Hop is launching this Tuesday, October 12!

This brand new project bridges together nine different convention and visitors bureaus (CVBs) across western Kentucky. The project itself is focused on encouraging visitors to visit as many of the 13 western Kentucky breweries as possible.

The brewery hop includes breweries in the cities of Paducah, Murray, Benton, Bowling Green, Glasgow, Hopkinsville, Henderson, Beaver Dam and Owensboro. Anyone 21 and older can simply head to one of the breweries or CVBs in their vicinity and pick up a brewery passport. Once you’ve got your passport, that’s where the fun starts!

With your passport in hand, participants are encouraged to try a beer at each of the breweries on the trail. After purchasing a local beer, the brewery will stamp your passport with its own individualized logo.

After you either complete the trail OR get a stamp from at least SEVEN of the 13 breweries, you can mail your passport to the Henderson Convention and Visitors Bureau to claim your prize! The CVB will mail your passport back to you as well because, obviously, we all love our memorabilia and want to hang onto it.

The prize, by the way, is a West KY Brewery Trail pint glass! These are not being sold anywhere else, so the only way you can get one is to hit the trail!

“Our convention and visitor bureaus across Kentucky do a wonderful job working together to promote tourism, and the new craft beer trail in western Kentucky is a prime example of that,” said Mike Mangeot, Commissioner of the Kentucky Department of Tourism. “Our tourism industry has been greatly impacted by the pandemic, and its innovative efforts such as this that will help us move forward toward recovery.”

According to Dave Kirk, destination management for Visit Owensboro, the West KY Brewery Hop is “one of the largest collaborations between convention and visitors bureaus in the Commonwealth.”

Owensboro’s local breweries have all expressed support for this venture and said they are excited to welcome new faces to each of their establishments.

Breweries on the Hop include Mile Wide Beer Company, The Brew Bridge and Goodwood Brewing & Spirits in Owensboro, Henderson Brewing Company, Uncrafted Territory Brewing Company in Beaver Dam, Paducah Beer Works, Dry Ground Brewing Company in Paducah, Hop Hound Brew Pub in Murray, The Dam Brewhaus in Benton, Hopkinsville Brewing Company, Yancey’s Gastropub & Brewery in Glasgow, Blue Holler Brew Supplies and Gasper Brewing Company in Bowling Green.

We know life gets busy, so don’t worry about racing to the finish line here. There’s no timeline for when you have to complete your passport. However, participants are encouraged to check out the other entertainment options each city has highlighted in the passport. From museums, to National Parks, to local restaurants and cave systems, these cities all have something amazing to offer – along with the beer! For more information visit westkybreweryhop.com.
