Top 3 Things to Do in Owensboro This Weekend: October 15-17

Reid’s Orchard Apple Festival

This long-running festival is where fall meets fun meets food. The Reid’s Orchard Apple Festival will run on October 16 and 17 this year, featuring 100 craft booths, 20-plus food booths, carnival rides, wagon rides and more! You can try Reid’s famous caramel apple sundaes and apple turnovers, along with some of the best (and locally made) pork sandwiches you’ll ever try. Oh, and you can pick up some pumpkins and mums while you’re at it too! This family-friendly event is an amazing time each year and runs from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on Saturday and from noon-6 p.m. on Sunday. Reid’s is located at 4818 KY-144 in Owensboro.

BlOktoberfest

The inaugural BlOktoberfest is coming to downtown Owensboro this fall, and organizers say this family-friendly event was started as a partnership between a number of local bars and restaurants. BlOktoberfest will be held on Saturday, Oct. 16 from noon-6 p.m. and is free to all. Businesses participating include The Pub on Second, Mile Wide Beer Co., Mellow Mushroom, Famous Bistro, Don Mario Mexican Restaurant, Ben’s Soft Pretzels and Andy Brasher’s Little Nashville. Live music will be played on two stages and a number of local artisans and food vendors will be present as well. There will also be a stein holding competition and traditional German hammerschlagen to enjoy.

Furst Wurst Brat-N-Beer Lympics

At the Furst Wurst Brat-N-Beer-Lympics, attendees will run through an obstacle course inside the RiverPark Center to get to a “beer and brat-filled” after party on the BB&T Plaza. Brats, beer and live music can be enjoyed outdoors all afternoon and evening. The event runs from 3-8 p.m. on October 17 and is sure to be a good time for brat and beer lovers, as well as those who enjoy supporting local arts programs and venues. Come on down to RPC’s riverfront property at 101 Daviess Street to enjoy this first-time event! Those interested in participating can call RiverPark Center at 270-687-2787.
